Our heroin Qamar was born long time ago, in a village in Palestine. Women were not allowed to travel, or learn to read. The elders had also banned bright colored clothes.
Qamar, whose father was born in the village, breaks free of these rules, and sets off on a wonderous journey. Using her wits, broad culture, cleverness and courage, Qamar saves a village from a curse, and finds a way to travel from Jerusalem, to Gaza, Cairo and Tangier. She is sold as a slave along the way, frees herself and disguises as a pirate to continue her adventures.

Borrowing its structure from the classical One Thousand and One Nights, “Wonderous Journeys in Strange Lands”, takes us from one story to an another, in an extravagant, seemingly never ending tale.

Rich in imagination, humor, and adventure, the book explores themes of women empowerment, courage, identity, freedom, storytelling, and the pursuit of knowledge. While deeply rooted in Arab and Islamic cultural heritage, its themes resonate with readers across cultures and generations.
