Douaihy, a guest of Montova’s Literary festival

Jabbour Douaihy, guest of the Montova literary festival met the public this morning (12.09.2010).

“In the last quarter of the twentieth century, the problem for Lebanese novelists was not how to talk about the war, but, rather, how not to.” In a country torn by intestine conflicts for decades, confrontation becomes a “way of life” that penetrates every form of writing, despite the authors’ will. Jabbour Douaihy, translator and professor of French literature at the University of Tripoli, Lebanon, aims at describing the family struggles, that preceded the more ideologically driven war, which are the key to the understanding of Lebanon’s recent history.
